How We Work with “Street Schools”
Street Schools serve high-risk teens who had been expelled or dropped out of high school.
In 1985 Denver Street School was opened in the dining room of a house in Denver’s inner-city with one teacher and three students. It has grown to 3 campuses.
StreetSchool Network started in the 1990’s as the National Association of Street Schools, which grew rapidly with generous financial assistance for seven years from a large foundation. Their website lists 36 schools in 17 states, many of which were patterned on the Denver Street School model.
Alliance for CHOICE is building an engine to create awareness of, and encourage donations to, these highly effective programs.
The next steps will be developing ways to supercharge the engine driving the donations.
Education is foundational in maintaining a free self-governing nation.
Providing access to quality education in the early years is the providing access to the bottom rung of the ladder that leads impoverished people out of generational cycles of oppression. It’s the right thing to do.
“Liberty and justice for all” is more than a slogan for us. We are working to make it a growing reality.
